What is AU membership?

The Athletic Union (AU) has more than 30 clubs from the traditional Football, Netball, Hockey and Rugby to the more diverse  such as Wakeboarding, Ultimate Frisbee and Octopush clubs. The one-off membership payment covers the cost of all matches, training and travel, as well as participation in taster sessions at the start of the year. AU members are also able join us on our annual Sports Tour at Easter, which will require additional payment.

How much does it cost?

Semester 2 ONLY: Student Athletic Union Membership = £50.00
Semester 2 Membership is available to any undergraduate or postgraduate student enrolled on a programme of study at the University of Portsmouth. Students must first register at www.upsu.net/register to qualify. Membership lasts from date of purchase until the 31st of July of that academic year. Core training and match fees are included in this fee.

Student Athletic Union Membership = £85.00
Full Annual Membership is available to any undergraduate or postgraduate student enrolled on a programme of study at the University of Portsmouth. Students must first register at www.upsu.net/register to qualify. Membership lasts from date of purchase until the 31st of July of that academic year. Core training and match fees are included in this fee.

Alumni Athletic Union Membership = £85.00
Alumni Membership is available to any ex-students or staff members who have previously graduated from the University of Portsmouth. Alumni must first register at www.upsu.net/register to qualify. Membership lasts from date of purchase until the 31st of July of that academic year. Alumni members should be aware that unlike the student membership training and match fees are not included in this fee. What do I get for my money?

Your one-off fee entitles you to:

• FREE access to all 33 sporting activities on offer.
  
• FREE personal accident insurance cover while participating in any sporting activity offered by the Athletic Union or any of its Sports Clubs.
  
• The ability to represent the University as a team member or individual in British Universities & Colleges Sports Association (BUCS) competitions.
  
• FREE access to all training, coaching and core team activities* offered by sports clubs.
  
• FREE transport costs and core match fees*.
  
• The opportunity to go on the annual AU Easter Sports Tour**.
  
• Membership to one of the single largest representative body within the University.
  
• The ability to purchase AU branded Team Kits & Leisurewear.
  

* Core activities are the primary competitions for each club, i.e. BUCS competitions for many sports will be seen as core activities.
** Participating on the Annual AU Sports Tour at Easter will require additional payment on top of any AU Membership Fee. Please note the above only applies to Student membership only.
