Regular Volunteering Projects
Regular volunteering is a great way to meet new people both students and members of the local community. Regular volunteering does not have to mean giving up a whole day each week, in fact with many of our projects they run fortnightly and only for a couple of hours. With volunteering that is consistent throughout your University year you can really get to know the people that you are meeting, and build up some great relationships that can last even after your University life has come to an end. Our current regular volunteering projects are READ International, and Intergenerational Projects (IGP).
Regular volunteering looks great on your CV and enhances your future job prospects. It demonstrates to employers that you have shown commitment to a cause, reliability as you would have attend each session and personal motivation, as you would have seen something through to the end.
'In a competitive job market, volunteering can offer young people more than just something to do with their free time. Volunteering offers a wide range of roles that can provide young people with the transferable skills and the first job experience they need to stand out.'
Charity Foundation Manager
'Consider getting some broader experience - either in the workplace or by volunteering - which will help strengthen your application to a graduate scheme.'
Graduate Recruitment Manager
'With more graduates entering the global labour market, higher education establishments in the UK need to ensure they provide ready-to-work graduates. One way to do that is to mix academic skills with opportunities for practical application. These opportunities can often easily be gained through volunteering.'
