In the spirit of not taking myself too seriously during the elections campaign, here's something that's haunted me for two years with no signs of giving up just yet... ;o)

I found some aviator sungigs while I was dismantling a car with a friend a couple of years ago, so I popped them on and struck a pose... And my "mate" grabbed his camera and snapped this photo (click any pic to enlarge):

... Git. As if that wasn't bad enough, he posted it on a forum I'm a member of. So, being a lovely bunch of community-minded folks, they did their bit for the community... With Photoshop. Just like Tony Hart, here's some of their best efforts... Gits, the lot of them...

Glowing ball gown by Even, (c) Even on Flickr

I know putting this pic on here is verging on the cheeky, but this (Italian?) photographer has some amazing photographs in his Flickr photostream - check it out.
While I'm waiting for a cafétière (did I accent that right?) of photos from tonight's VIP Awards Dinner Thingybob to brew, I just wanted to mention that this is absolutely superb... Boredom's great ;o)

Update: as I'm editing down the photos from tonight, I'm faced with the eternal question of "do I include the photograph for completeness or delete it because it's absolutely terrible/they're gurning/they're looking the other way/all of the above?". This is a bit of a pain in the neck as far as the photos of the ... ohmyGod it's getting light... Where was I? ... It's a bit of a pain where photos of the awards ceremony are concerned because, naturally, people would like to see a pic of them receiving the award wherever possible but, that said, I'm not entirely sure having a pixellated multi-coloured blur is really likely to invoke those feelings of pride and achievement which a good photo might have done. I think I'll just have to admit defeat on some of these pics... Shame :o( (Advance apology: some of the photos I took tonight were, frankly, appalling - if you're reading this and fuming having seen your face as a blurry/dark/gurning mess thanks to my guerilla photography, I can only apologise... Normal service will be resumed as soon as possible... Oops!).

(p.s. lost my going-into-the-sea-after-Tange virginity tonight... Very scary, but not very cold... Beer jackets are handy things...)

Welcome

Welcome to my online ramblings repository. As of Friday 16th March, I have been sentenced to serve an extra 18 months in Portsmouth as a Sabbatical officer at the Union. Until then, I have to get my degree and train up to be a Sabb while running UPSU.net

about me

"Grumpy, geeky old grey-head"

'Ello! I'm Alex, and I'm one of the mysterious and slightly-shady figures know as "Sabbatical Officers" - my job title is something like Media Whore, and I divide my time equally between upsetting students, annoying staff members, tweaking the UP ... (read more).
