It's awful to see that the BNP got 69,710 votes - what is this world coming to?

6 million? The size of the electorate is only 5,419,913, and the turnout was around 45%, which made 2,456,990 votes.

Its awful that Johnson is the new mayor- he is just a gimmick politician. To be honest, any Conservative MP running against Livingstone would had got in, and i think thats only because people are fed up with Labour and not neccessarily Livingstone.

Johnson planning to scrap the increased congestion charges for higher polluting vechicles e.g. some 4x4's, is a big defeat in the battle against climate change.

The only thing Johnson has managed and run in his life is The Spectator, and he should stick to Have I Got News For You.

He also cannot control his temper as seen last year when he shouted at Elle Gray for questioning the policies of his party (from what i remember he then stated that they were not his policies...)

Also did you know 500,000 votes were rejected ('spolit' ballot papers being the biggest culprit), would had made a hell of a difference (obviously they all voted Green, or if you read the BNP website, BNP) .

As more people get dissolusioned with main stream political parties (Labour/Conservative) their politics get more radicial, and turn to the smaller parties, including the BNP. As there is no one dominatant leftist party (leftwing politics is so segregated), then voters will select the BNP- not because they are leftwing/rightwing, but because they want radical change.

Its a sorry day for democracy... perhaps the proles shouldn't be trusted with it after all? If the masses of London can be won over by a bumbling-racist-public school-psuedo celeb-clown then they're going to get the London they deserve.

Boris Johnson may be a nutcase be he is more fun then Ken. It also just shows that being associeted with labour at the moment seems to lose you an election. Alot of very good councillors lost their seat this week just becasue they stood on a labour platform, and not necessarily becaue the opposition was any better? But still, Gordon looks a bit lost at sea if you ask me
