Its 11.59 pm, i got back home about 25 minutes ago,its a wednesday- you should be in the union because its purple wednesday i hear you say! Well yes, i was in the union, but i left early. Why? Not because i am unsocialable/have no friends, no, i knew quite a few people there. The reason i left early was because i didn't feel as if its MY union. The only reasons for this that i can give are (a) lux is too boring and (b) i don't like 90% of the music. I don't give a flying uck about sportos, they live and enjoy thier life- who am i to disapprove. However, purple wednesdays seem too much orientated as if everybody is expected to enjoy the same type of thing, both CO2 and Lux appear to play the same type of music, with the Waterhole the only 'slight' exception (the slight is miminal). I don't get it, are organisers too afraid that people are going to become polarised and one room will become more crowded than the other- because if so then so what? As long as people enjoy themselves... I won't comment too much on the boringness of the long white boardroom hall that is lux, as there has been a post about it on the union website, which i have commented on... Anyway, anyone noticed how the union is not open as much as it used to be. Not only is this bcause of what i beieve is the privatisation of the bar and catering facilities, but also because not many people go to the union anymore apart from wednesdays... Why aren't questions being asked as to why? Why does the union not cater for other music tastes? Why have beer prices gone up by 10p and BBQ chicken bagette prices gone up by around 90p from last year even though inflation hasn't increased by this much??
Why aren't people asking more questions and providing more answers?

Matt - believe me, these are all valid points which I am keen to see answered.
Transparency of the Union is important to let students know what's going on with *their* Union, and next year you will - I hope - start to see a number of changes in a positive direction with regards to *how* the Union listens to its students, and how the students' voices can be heard. More to come - watch this space ;o) Alex -
