I was just taking a quick cigarette break outside Richmond building and noticed the lack of litter surrounding it. Which is great and all that, but of course there are numerous litter bins in that area... in other places - like down Elm Grove for example (the Southsea roundabout end in particular), it is distinctly lacking the bins to help those that couldn't possibly hold on to their waste for any longer than a few seconds. But unfortunately, just as I was thinking this, 3 young lads (or chavs, if you will) cyclyed past on their (possibly stolen) bikes and one threw a cigarette onto the ground... when there was a purpose made ash tray less than a metre away. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be much that can be done to convince these people that their city would be a whole lot nicer if they didn't use it as a dumping ground for their rubbish. I guess it's all part of their (chav) culture? Permanent link
