Today, i was driving back from walking the Dog on the sunny but cold hills around Winchester. Having pulled off the M3 i was driving into town when out of the corner of my eye an old man fell off a post as he went to sit on it, thing was he didn't get up as i watched in my rear view mirror. I pulled into the next road as a queue of 10 maybe 15 cars drove passed, who all will have witnessed this man 'fall over'. I drove back up the hill to the man and pulled in to find him still on the floor propped up against a fence, luckily one other man had also seen what had happened.
At first i thought it was an old guy who had had a few too many drinks at lunch time, but it turns out the old gentleman, i say gentleman because he was a lovely old bloke, had recently had a stroke and had collapsed from exhaustion after walking 5 miles to the pub! I was lucky that the other man who pulled up happened to be a doctor so he dealt with the situation and drove the man to the hospital where the doctor was going to work anyway! What puzzles me is that only myself and the doctor pulled over to see if this gentleman was alright - there must have been between 20 and 30 other cars who passed by before we got there and didn't pay any attention. I admit i almost didn't as i thought the man was a drunk, but on reflection i would like to think that someone would come to my rescue if i collapsed.
I wonder how many of you would have pulled over to help ?
