Introduction to Bullying Sucks

This website contains information aimed at helping students identify and deal with situations where they feel they are being unfairly treated through bullying or harrassment. While the information here is written for students at the University of Portsmouth, the advice provided here can be applied to almost any student situation. If you have any questions, please get in touch with us.

The University of Portsmouth will not tolerate the harassment, bullying and/or intimidation of one member of the University community by another. This includes a student being bullied by another student or member of staff.

All members of the University, staff and students, are responsible for helping to ensure that individuals do not suffer any form of harassment.

Although cases of harassment may be resolved informally, there can, in extreme cases be grounds for disciplinary action that may result in expulsion (students) or dismissal (staff). It should also be recognised that such behaviour may be considered to be offences under the Protection from Harassment Act 1997.

Bullying and harassment information for staff

Please note that the advice on these pages is intended for students. If you are looking for information on bullying and harrassment for members of academic staff, please visit the "Staff Essentials - Support Networks" page on the University of Portsmouth website.
