Carnival 2006 was a great day out

What is the Societies' Carnival?

Societies' Carnival is a day of celebration and performances from our societies and everyone is welcome. Come and meet our societies and see what they do, bring a picnic and enjoy a day of live performances, games and competitions, food tasting and relaxation. All you need is to remember to bring a blanket and maybe sun cream!

Last year's carnival saw displays by the breakdance society and dance squad, a great performance by the School of Rock, DJs playing anything and everything, and a live broadcast by Pure:FM throughout the day.

This year, as well as the main stage, the carnival will have two tents - the activity and cultural tents - where you can discover new ways to get involved with your Union, or just chill and enjoy yourselves.

We will also be laying on food and drink in the park, and the Union will also be open all day serving food and drink in case you're still hungry afterwards!

If you like your music and a show, the main stage might be the place for you, with performances, bands, and DJs, and Pure:FM sticking it all together.

Don't miss the cultural tent, with stands and a food fayre by the Union's cultural societies.

Over in the activities tent, the Union's activities-based societies will be providing the entertainment, including a darts competition hosted by the pool society.

The RAG society - who raise money for charities - will be holding a balloon launch, and playing Giant Twister, so come along! Read more here.

Get your club or society involved!

If you're a member of a club or society who aren't already taking part in the carnival, it's not too late to get involved. Find out how, here.
