Club News

The Netball club is a very successful club, consisting of fun, energetic girls who like to train hard as well as play hard. It was especially successful for our 3rd team who won the SESSA Cup and our 1st team who were also victorious, in winning the SESSA Bowl. We go on Tour every year and extended our success by coming 2nd for Netball, proving we can play hard and party hard.

This year we entered 5 teams into British Universities Sport Association leagues (BUSA), and we are hoping to extend this to 6 teams, which is the largest amount of teams from any University in Britain.

We are a very social club and are always making ourselves heard in the union on a Wednesday night. We have social dress-ups every 2 weeks and always have a great time. However if partying isn’t your thing then we are also planning a trip to watch an England or Superleague netball match and offer other activities including Rounders on the common and Bowling.

Joining the Netball Club next year gives you the chance to meet amazing new people and enhance your netball skills (as well as your drinking skills!!). We guarantee if you join the Netball club, it will add to your amazing University experience, as well as a great way of keeping fit!!

How to join

Find us at Fresher’s Fayre in the first tent near the back or approach a girl dressed in Netball kit anywhere around campus. Trials are on the 5th October and 6th October, however if you miss these dates, feel free to join our Facebook group and come to training. Thursday training sessions from 5.30pm till 7.00pm are open to anyone who wants to keep fit and make friends. Alternatively you can enter your own team into our intramural league on a Thursday 7-8pm. Entry fee applies.

Training Sessions

1st - 6th teams- Every Monday 5.30pm till 7.30 pm- Alternate between Langstone Courts and St Paul’s gym

All teams including intramural teams- Thursday 5.30pm till 8.00pm- Langstone Courts

Squads

We currently have 6 teams entered into BUSA:
1st- Southern League 2a
2nd-Southern League 3a
3rd- Southern League 4a
4th-Southern League 5a
5th- Southern League 6b
6th-Southern League 7b (Provisional- New Entry)

We have a first team squad consisting of 10 players and all other teams have 7 set players.

Coach Info

Unfortunately we have had great difficulty in finding a coach for this academic year.
