These rules are taken from the
UPSU.net terms and conditions If you have a comment or query about them, please e-mail admin@upsu.net.
First, the basics:
Make sure you post in an appropriate forum for your message content.
Please keep your posts civil and relevant. Remember you are talking to real people you might meet next week on-campus.
It is in your best interests not to make posts which will upset people!
Don't swear excessively in your posts or use language designed to intimidate or offend. See the terms and conditions for a full list.
Swear word policy is subject to a review at the time of writing this document - we will make every effort to let you know if we move the
goalposts!
Don't "troll" (post purely to start arguments) or "post whore" (post excessive numbers of unrelated messages). Your posts will be deleted
and your account may be suspended or, in extreme cases, terminated.
"Flaming" is also bad. So don't do it!
Don't "spam" (post the same message in several different forums, or several times in the same forum).
Attemps to impersonate anyone or mislead someone as to your identity are also prohibited.
Please remember:
People of all abilities will be on these forums, so be patient and understanding if someone makes a mistake!
Stay on topic, and don't try to divert a thread off-topic.
Never give out any personal information! These forums are public.
Breach of rules policy
Where we believe you have breached any of the site rules, we may take any of the following actions. This list isn't exhaustive and
does not supersede any other punishments prescribed by other agreements you make with the University of Portsmouth Students' Union and its
associated companies:
send a warning to you by e-mail, or written letter,
temporarily or permanently suspend part or all of your UPSU.net account functionality, including your ability to access and post on the forums, your access to
the shop, and your profile,
temporarily or permanently ban you from events at Portsmouth Students' Union,
temporarily or permanently revoke your NUS membership and demand the return of your NUS card,
take the necessary steps to have your enrolment at the University of Portsmouth cancelled,
contact law enforcement agencies and pass on all information we have as to your identity and actions in order
to permit a prosecution if we have reason to believe you have acted illegally.
Legalese:
You agree not to post or link to any copyrighted material, including photographs, text, audio and video, unless the copyright
is owned by you or by these forums, or the copyright owner has explicitly granted permission for you to post such material.
We reserve the right to reveal your identity (or whatever information we know about you) in the event of a complaint or
legal action arising from any message posted by you or someone using your login - it is up to you to keep your login details
safe and it is *you* who will be held responsible for another person breaking the forum and/or site rules using your login.
Please note that chain letters, pyramid schemes, and solicitations are inappropriate on these forums.
Notice to traders: you may not advertise, in any way or form, your business or carry out practises which may lead to
financial reward for yourself or selves, or parties associated with yourself or selves, except when conducting the business
of the University of Portsmouth Students' Union. If you would like to advertise your business on this website, and/or through
the various other forms of broadcast and publication available through the University of Portsmouth, please contact the
advertising department, via the contacts section of the site.
