Chileya Kasuba - President

Hi, welcome to the University of Portsmouth and congratulations on choosing the university with the best students’ Union in the South East! My name is Chileya and I am this year’s Students’ Union President. I am very excited about the next year and looking forward to showing you guys what a great place Portsmouth is! The Students Union’s sole purpose is to enhance your student experience, we are here to represent you, so please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any problems! Just a little bit about me: I am from Zambia (5000 miles away :)), and loving every minute of my time here in England; I enjoy the diversity of the student population, the entertainment, Coronation Street, the weather and believe it or not my studies in International Relations and Politics. I also know how difficult it is to be away from home, and just want to reassure you that its not that bad and most importantly that time flies when you’re having fun! So good luck and hope to see you around Union! If you need to get in contact, pop into the Sabbatical Office or drop me an email.

Adrian Fraguela - Media & Publications

fraggy.gifBuenos dias freshers and welcome to a new life of constant fun and adventure! My name is Adrian ‘Fraggy’ Fraguela and I am your new Media and Publications officer. My duties to you involve making sure that our award winning Pugwash magazine maintains its high standard and also that our radio station Pure:FM - www.purefm.com - gets heard. I also get to have some fun with our website www.upsu.net. I am here to help you with any publicity problems you may have or any ideas you have to make our services better for you. If you like writing articles or you feel you’re the next Jo Whiley or Chris Moyles then give me a shout and I’ll point you in the right direction. After all, all these services are for students, run by students so don’t be afraid to get involved. I hope you all have an enjoyable experience whilst being at uni and I hope to get to meet loads of you over Freshers’ Fortnight. You can contact me in the Sabbatical Office or by emailing me. Take care and spread the love.

Hey! A massive hello and welcome to Portsmouth. I'm sure you've realized that there are many more things to University other than getting a degree, and that's where I come in! Are you interested in organizing fun unique events that you'll never forget? Do you fancy taking part in activities you've never tried, and that you can brag to your friends at home about? If YES, then I'm your girl!! My name is Diana Langford and I'm your Student Activity and Development Officer (also known as S.A.D.O!). Student activities include RAG (Raising and Giving), VIP (Volunteering in Portsmouth) and joining societies that include the Bouncy Castle Society, Afro-Caribbean and the ever- popular Pub Crawl society! If this is for you, then get yourself down to Freshers' Fayre and sign up to as many societies and events that you fancy! If you miss that, then you can find me in the Sabbatical Office, or email me. Look forward to meeting you all! Take it easy, Diana x

Danny Parkinson - Student Support Officer

Hello there and a big welcome to Portsmouth and what should be the best days of your life! My name's Danny 'Parky' Parkinson and I am your Student Support Officer. Basically that means that any problems you may entail throughout your stay here, I’m the man to sort it. From free condoms, (we all need to play safe when playing with each other!!) to running campaigns, I'll be making sure we can offer a smooth ride throughout your time at uni. The start of university can be a pretty daunting time for many of us, so if there's anything you need help or advice on, whether it be on houses, halls or even hair straighteners (?!) pop into the Sabb office, or alternatively drop me an email. See you all in the new year guys and girls, Parky.

Lynsey Hayward - Education & Representation

Hey all you Pompey students, my name is Lynsey Hayward and I am your Education and Representation Officer. Before coming to the University of Portsmouth I was very apprehensive but as soon as I got here all my fears seemed to disappear and I knew Pompey was for me! My role is to represent your academic issues by liaising between the University and the Students' Union. I also train, advise and support the Student Representatives of each and every course. These students are also known as 'Course Reps', who will be able to help you out with any minor problems on your course. If you want to know more about either becoming a ‘Course Rep’, let me or your course tutors know. I'm here for your benefit, to help you with any problems you have, relating to the academic side of university life, so don't hesitate to drop in for a chat or if you're too busy having fun with all your new friends, you can email me. Have fun and play nicely ;-) see ya!

The Sports Officers role is to represent the student body and be your voice. If you want to get involved, want something changed, or have an issue that needs to be voiced then the Sports Officer is your first point of call. Contact me
