Adrian 'Fraggy' Fraguela
Media & Publications Officer
Hola students of Pompey! I’m Adrian ‘Fraggy’ Fraguela and I’m your current Media & Publications officer. So read on and find out why you should vote this Oompa Loompa again!
Why should I re-elect Fraggy?
I’ve been here for a year, I’ve got the t-shirt and I want to do it again. I still have a lot to give to students here at Portsmouth.
What has Fraggy done?
Throughout my term in office I have:
- Helped with the re-launched of UPSU.net and kept it up to date
- Raised the number of people involved with Pugwash
- Redesigned the look of our Purple Wednesdays magazine
- Supported the committee at PURE:FM to make this year one of their most successful years ever
- I have provided training for our clubs and societies so that they could keep their homepages up to date on UPSU.net
- Helped clubs and societies design posters and promote themselves to students
- Continued the hard work of the Pugwash team to ensure an issue is out 5 times a year
- Dressed up as a lady Goth to get peoples' reactions for a Pugwash article
What will Fraggy do?
If re-elected I will:
- Continue to push hard to win awards for Pugwash, PURE:FM and UPSU.net
- Aim to have an online version of Pugwash, much like Purple Wednesdays online
- Increase the number of students getting involved with UPSU media
- Get Pure:FM played around different locations in the university
- Continue to diversify UPSU media
What now?
Well, if you like what you see, then all you have to do is get down to your nearest voting ballot box on the 8th, 9th & 10th March and vote for Adrian ‘Fraggy’ Fraguela as number 1 for Media & Publications. I’ll love your forever!

Questions
1. What do you envisage the role of the Media and publications Officer to be?
To help students develop their communication skills and also help clubs & societies promote themselves better to students using all Union media outlets.
2. Communication with the student body lies solely with this position. What in your opinion is the best way to communicate with the student body?
I have found that a combination of all media can help to communicate with students. It also depends on what section of the student population you want to target.
3. Why are you attracted to Media?
Because I like to see the end result, and UPSU media allows that, for example, when a magazine is put together alongside the team you get to see it right there in front of you and it is also satisfying seeing students read your material.
4. How would you expand on the success of Pugwash, Pure FM and www.upsu.net?
I would continue to work with the full-time staff and committee members to help raise the bar that little bit more and also bring back those media awards! It’s about time we won some again!
5. Who is the best communicator of all time and why?
I’m gonna stick with Homer Simpson! A role model to students, hard working when in bed and a lot of dedication when going to the pub! D’OH!
6. This position becomes much easier with student participation. How do you plan on getting students involved in your ideas?
I plan on continuing to be involved as much as possible in committee meetings and listening to student’s ideas and working with them to achieve their goals. I also plan to use our magazines, website and radio to encourage students to get involved.
7. What experience have you gained so far in Media?
I have worked since August on all Union media so therefore I believe that I have all the experience needed to continue to ensure good communication with students.
8. As a sabbatical networking is essential and important, what is your best ‘networking line’?
What is a nice girl like you doing in a dirty mind like mine?
