Student Support Officer

I acknowledge your efforts in supporting our Student Union, I appreciate the time you have put in to make the right vote and I have no doubt that the outcome would be worthy of your effort.

This day I am indulging your support and asking for your vote, the final say is yours. Therefore, I Anjola-Oluwa (Anjiie) Adeniyi, a final year BSc (Hons) Business Information Systems student is running for the post of Student Support Officer.

Why vote for Anjiie?

As an international student with a very sociable and public spirit attitude, I have had the opportunity to mix with student (and lecturers) of diverse ethnic, cultural and religious background and gaining in the process a vast understanding of their different lifestyles and academic challenges.

Amongst my Chinese friends, I am called “Blackanese”; amongst my Greek friends, I am called “Agelos”, my very hospitable British friends call me “Anjiie”

For the same reason of a public and social spirit, I have won awards like “Most Wanted Guy 2002/2003” and “Best Dressed Male 2003/2004” from the Afro-Caribbean Society. Therefore, I can relate well to students whatever their background and faith. International students are a big lot in the university population, their well-being should therefore be high priority to the Student Support Officer, and that would be my priority. My various experiences as an international student, positions me to understand the challenges of both foreign and home students.

What Anjiie will do for you?

  • I will continue to embrace all students, irrespective of their cultural, ethnic, or religious background; I will listen and strive to understand (as a priority) your complaints, so that our Student Union is run in the best possible way.
  • Make our Student Union available at everyone’s doorsteps, to help them develop better; and understand what our Union stands for (not only as a place to drink and party, but also a place to develop; academically, employability, friendship cultivation, good health awareness and sports participation, amongst others things)
  • Ensure that the various student societies have the support of the Student Union and most importantly carry the local communities along with the programme of the Union.
  • Uphold the strength of the academic environment, tackle its weaknesses, create opportunities and battle its threats.
