About the Union / Alexandra House

Alexandra House is the former home of the Union, and was sited south of Frewen Library where a large gravel carpark now stands.

An aging former military NAAFI building, it was "a bit Marmite" - you either loved its sticky-floored charm or hated its dated design and funny smells. Still, it was home to the Students' Union for over 20 years, so we ought to show it some love just for that reason! (skip picture)

You can read more about Alexandra House, and see what was said about the Union's new home back when it was still being built, in the 2001 Student Survival Guide - available here to download in the Pugwash archives.
