Sign up for your NUS card on UPSU.net and you automatically become a member of the University of Portsmouth Students' Union (UPSU).
This allows you to take part in social events and get into the Union for less, join sports clubs and society outings, academic representation, volunteering, media... In fact, everything we do!
All Portsmouth students are eligible to join - all you have to do is complete the registration process at upsu.net/registration (from August 1st 2007), and collect your NUS card from the Union from the start of term.
How much and what do I get?
NUS Democracy card
This basic level of membership is FREE and entitles you to participate fully in all student activities, including the sports clubs and societies at UPSU, and much more.
You also become a full member of the National Union of Students (NUS)*.
The NUS Democracy card is also referred to as the NUS Standard card. We are sorry, but NUS Democracy cardholders are NOT entitled to the full range of NUS card discounts offered to NUS Extra cardholders.
NUS Extra card
To qualify for a great range of NUS discounts, including high street discounts and discounted travel, you need to pay a bit more to get a lot more back this year - £10. Read more about the benefits of the NUS Extra card on the NUS Extra website*, or simply select the NUS Extra card when you sign up at upsu.net/registration (from August 1st 2007).
The NUS Extra card is also a full ISIC Card, giving great discounts on purchases and services around the world - find out more about this offer at the NUS Extra website*.
Both NUS cards also work as UPSU membership cards, so you don't need to buy both.
Collecting your card
Once you have registered at upsu.net/registration (from August 1st 2007), simply come to the Union during term-time with your purple University card (also known as a "HEMIS" card).
For more information on how and when to collect your NUS card, please visit this page in the NUS registration pages.
