Hassan Ghafoor’s Manifesto

My name is Hassan Ghafoor and I am currently in my second year of studying Pharmacy at Portsmouth University. I have always been an active student joining different societies such as the UN debating society and the Islamic society.

This year I believed it was time to really get the students of different ethnicities involved and to really make the university of Portsmouth a diverse and multi-cultural society. This all begins with the position of Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) students’ officer.

If this position falls on the right shoulders, it has the potential to make such a big difference to the lives and experiences of so many people for years to come. Many requests made from different ethnic societies have fallen on deaf ears and it will continue to do so unless someone takes a stand, and there is no better podium then the BAME officer.

Do you have certain days you think are worth recognition? Do you have days of celebration within your culture?

Its time for us as a multi-cultural community to bring the worlds colours, flavours, arts and beauty to Portsmouth.
