So it’s the time of year when Uni ends and students go home… well nearly for one thing there is the last chance to TELL YOUR UNION what you want it to do for you, and more over if you think it is doing something that isn’t in your interests you can make them change their policy.
So how does this wonderful thing called democracy apply to you, well if you’re a final year student you can have your last chance to formally comment on what the union has (or hasn’t done for you) and also try and improve it for the students you leave behind. For everyone else it’s your chance to ensure the elected sabbatical officers don’t forget whom they represent…. That’s you by the way.
The AGM is the place where the accounts are presented for your approval (it’s your chance to ask what why and when money has been spent…. …. On your behalf), and motions can be heard. Parky should have published an agenda by now (if you want a copy email danny.parkinson@port.ac.uk) and this is where you can find details of what will be happening, one of the motions concerns Union Balls and when voted upon will impact on the next 5 years.
So if you’re a student still in September, a graduate who’s going or not to the ball this is one event you don’t want to miss out on. |
