This thread discusses the story: Course Rep Incentives - We need your ideas!
Hi guys,
just thought i'd come on here and (re) introduce myself, i'm steve kerr, i'm a 2nd year geog rep and now a course rep exec member. With regards to the incentive, myself and Tom Hatcher think that any sort of system with lots of little perks would be good, for example the photocopying and printing discounts, (maybe a discount for gym memberships? ) we discussed the idea of free/cheap union entry, but apparently that's gonna be a bit hard to achieve. maybe a few of these type of ideas on top of a one off gift token/book voucher type thingy? Just a few ideas, hope you'll all let me know what you think.
Steve Kerr
ps. sorry, now editing my post now that i've seen the topic below this on the forum! there's some good ideas there too, some sort of social budget as the sports teams get, (or do they??) would be pretty awesome. right, now i've actually finished!

Nice thoughts there Steve. I like the idea of some sort of gym incentive...everyone likes to keep fit I definitely think that social incentives (free union entry etc.) are more attractive than academic ones (i.e. book tokens), however, photocopying is always handy!
If you really want to attract more reps, and Steve and I both would have become reps just for this incentive , you could issue reps with 'rep id cards' and this could get them reduced drink prices at the union and could couple up to let them receive free photocopies etc. Since 'flat rate fridays' at the union started its been a lot more appealing to go on a friday so i don't see why this wouldnt apply to being a rep?! 'rep id cards'...now thats a plan!
Cheers, please comment. Tom Hatcher |

hmm i like your thinking! although in the same way that lynsey said the free entry to the union thing was hard to organise due to the ents company, can't remember their name, now being seperate from the part of the union that we're involved with, this may also be quite difficult/impossible (?) to arrange. (flat rate fridays are definitely very appealing these days tho! why am i not there now?!?)
anyway, nice to see we're thinking along the same lines of combined perks rather than one big "pay off"! would be nice to hear some other viewpoints on the idea if poss!
