Hello all you lovely people!!!
On 2nd May 2008 the Societies Carnival will be hitting Ravelin Park and will be bigger and better than ever before!!!
The Societies Exec have some very exciting ideas already and the last Societies Council meeting also provided some promising ideas too. However, what do YOU want to see?
This event traditionally celebrates the diversity of all our societies at Pompey so let's make it the most diverse ever and get all of our amazing societies involved.
If you have any ideas/comments/reflections etc then pop them down on here or contact our amazing SADO Ben Norman on ben.norman@port.ac.uk
Look forward to hearing your ideas,
Love all the Societies Exec Committee 2007/2008 -x-

I'm a wee bit shocked that you havent heard of it before...but nonetheless here's a very brief rundown...
Once a year all of the Union's societies takeover Ravelin Park and host an afternoon carnival event. There are marquees filled with stalls, activities, sometimes food too, plus a stage where societies can showcase their talents. The event goes on into the evening and although there is no procession (like many people associate with the word "carnival"), the atmosphere is one that is truly unforgettable!!!
But, what I have failed to mention is that the event is whatever you want it to be! It's not run by any big-bods - it's run by the students, for the students (and as cliche as that may sound, it's true!)
This year will be the 3rd year the carnival has run and it's set to be the biggest and best yet! I see you're a member of UPGS - I urge you to come to the next Societies Council meeting (email Ben.Norman@port.ac.uk our SADO for more info, dates etc) where the societies will discuss what they want to do at the event. But until then feel free to pop down any ideas in this thread
Sounds like a fun time to me, we at UPGS might be interested in doing some sort of game related activity involving a Wii, a projector and a bundle of free stuff!
