Heres a vid of them playing live, imageine this at the union and how freaking atmospheric it would be. The end of the song sounds particulalry imense.

http://www.myspace.com/officialpendulum

This is a band most people have heard of and is mainstream and actually realistic to play at the union.

I really hope some one out there can make this happen!

DJ are doing sets at the following UNIS on behalf of them:

Essex Uni Jan 27th

Hull Uni 1st Feb

Stoke Uni 3rd Feb then Birmingham Uni on same evening

Durham Uni 8th Feb

Leamington Spa Uni 9th Feb

Shefield Uni 13th Feb

Bristol 17th Feb

Hertfordshire 23rd Feb

Then After April (when their new albums out) they will be back to do live shows So I HOPE THE UNION GETS THESE GUYS IN

Fabric in London is only charging £12 (and thats london prices mind) entry so they cant be that costly to get in.

This would be a good way to counter the opening of Time etc.... Have a think about it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry Luke

Looked into them but thier Agent is a C**K and as they are playing already in portsmouth he wanted double thier normal fee! and even if I could get them in for a reasonable price you just don't promote someone in a town that they are already playing in!

lol firsty pendulum arnt a band! They re DJ's are at least one is, think the other two just make music. Altho having sed that did I read summin about them do live with guitars?! lol Anyways they re playing the pier 30th March in Pompey which is a better location. I ve been to a few dnb events at the union, albeit about 4-5 yrs ago when I was underage!!!!! The union is ****e, and the dnb society cant pull in the DJs coz of the reputation on the pier. Where r the dnb society anyways, aint seen a dnb event in the union for yrs. Pendulum would just laugh at our union!
My advice is if you want to see em, whicn is well worth it ive seen em b4, get ur self to Breakneck on the pier 30th March for sum dirty dnb clubbing. £11 in advance. Ur sad if u actually like the union lol, apart from cheap drinks what the **** does it have!!!

dnbkittie - agreed the Union hasn't done much in the way of DnB in the last couple of years, but you shouldn't write it off as a dead loss just yet

I know there are plenty of people who'd be well up for making a good DnB night happen at the Union. Aaaaand, I don't think it's fair to assume that Pendulum or any good DJ would "laugh at the Union" if the night was properly organised and promoted

If they're getting paid enough they will play more or less anywhere.

But really what is this obsession with Pendulum ? I just don't get it.

I think (and this is no dig at them) that Pendulum are credited with being one of the first and best acts to help bring DnB from the underground - in terms of commercialisation - into the popular music spectrum.

That's not to say that, if DnB becomes "pop" music, it's a good thing - possibly the opposite imvho, but it does mean that it becomes more widely recognised in much the same way that dance acts like Fedde le Grande have helped to make chunky and electro house more attractive to pop music lovers.

... But of course that would push their asking prices up by a fair amount too... D'oh!

Pendulum are a disgrace to DnB. They havent made a decent tune since vault. Their sets are awful and they cant mix.The havent brought DnB to the mainstream,Theyve just made it cool to like it.Any DJ could make a tune of pendulums mediocrity.

Just to clarify, pendulum do actually play with base guitars, guitars, and drums for their proper live shows. The DJ set at the pier will not be official pendulum playing, as there currently recording there new album back home. It will just be a dj set tribute or something along those lines.

If you actually check their myspace under events,

"Please note - due to recording commitments for the new album, all events are DJ performances unless otherwise stated"

It clarifys this, it will still be an awesome event on the pier. I can assure you i wouldn't personally miss it, as it's the closest i can get, to the real stuff for now.

If the Union could honestly get them in for a live instrumental event, where they play more than 30 minutes. It would be mental, i'm a huge fan, and Pendulum are a breathe of fresh air to the club scene!

Fair enough, people slate them for not being decent D'n'B artists. But it's nice to see they actually play live with these instruments. Instead of using pre-recorded beats, etc. I feel the actual presence of the instruments, adds real atmosphere to the gigs. But obviously, it's opinionated.

Reguards,

Agreed, Pendulum live are a sight to behold.

Thats like saying Panic at the disco are rubbish because they made normal people like Emo music.... get out of it mate...

If u think vault is Pendys best song you need to seriously work out some stuff....

Tarantula? Hold Your Colour? Girl on fire? Blood Sugar? SLAM? Voodoo People? Streamline? Fasten your seatbelt? all A1 tunes and much better than hardcore underground DnB, which btw is "underground" because few people actually enjoy listening to it....

I can confirm that if you book Pendulum to play and Speed turns up to play the set then a lot of people will be disappointed. Elhornet's pretty good but to be honest I think there are much better dnb dj's out there that probably wouldn't cost an arm and a leg to get, plus they will probably put on a better show. Sub Focus and Cyantific are both people who are wicked DJ's and wouldn't be as much as some other people to book.

Having said that - the person who commented on Fabric only charging £12 for Live , that's down to the fact that they are a well known place who reguarly put on nights.

Furthermore, booking someone to play isn't as simple as it sounds. The agents will want to know all sorts of answers to questions such as what is the capitcity of the venue and if they are the main headliner.

Getting one top act into a venue is going to mean that it is because of that one act that the venue is probably going to be packed, hence the dj's can charge more and get away with it, where as Fabric putting on 30 top name people is going to dilute their justification for a higher fee, not to mention that they have been going for so long.

The fact that Breakneck's down here also makes it more difficult as dj's will probably prefer to play with an established promoter as opposed to the union. That doesn't mean they won't knock it though - it could very well be something that the ents management could look into.
