We could get some DJs people may appreciate a bit more. Ive heard pendulum are rather costly, especially after they dissapeaerd up their own arses with that hideous album. The other problem with ive found with pendulum is that they play too much pendulum!!not enough DnB.Also theyre playing at the pier soon anyway so would be be a bit pointless. Ive seen some wiked sets by dilinja, friction and bad company to name a few, much better than pendulum. Also Fabric is a super club and can afford those prices with so many people attending. I like the idea of having "bigger names" playing at the union or at least having some specialist music nights as the current playlist (which never seems to change) at the union is dull and outdated. Fergie played an excelent set, and I would love to see some Drum & Bass at the union, the best night ive had in the union was probably scratch perverts two years ago.The union seems to cater too much for the steriotypical "lets get pissed up and listen to cheesy music" student.Im sure there are plenty of like minded music lovers that are bored of the same routine.

What That Album was one of the best DnB albums iv heard --infact the only DnB i can stand
Its not a bad thing that pendy play alot of their own stuff (its what ud expect really) Pendy stand out from the norm "noise" of DnB and play stuff that actually requires skill and thought.
Tho im interested about the pier when r they playing?
Pendulum are no more technical than most DJs,and their album hardly pushed any boundries, the songs are samey and all have that irritating 'slam' style high pitch noise through them.Sub Focus makes similar DnB but does it so much better. In terms of a live set, pendulum cant even compare to the likes of Andy C technically. But I guess it would bring in more people and so i wouldnt be too adverse. Oh and theyre playing 30th of march for the monthly breakneck event. Id recomend you check these out if you havent done so already, Zinc and Drumsound 26th Jan, Hype and Noisia 23rd feb.

Not sure if Pendulum themselves are as you put it "Up there own A**s" but I can confirm that thier Agent is by far the biggest C**K! I've ever come across, the plank actually wanted double there normal fee just because they are already playing in portsmouth! Hence I will not be booking them any time soon! Any other ideas??
The Cheek! What about the scratch perverts. Theyre quite a safe bet, playing a variety of music. They played the union before a few years ago.I saw them in my home town of Shrewsbury over christmas in a much smaller venue than the union and it was £10 on the door (plus this was the day before christmas eve) so they may be in the unions price range.
Well Maybe later on in the year or sumat you could get em in. WOuld certainly be sound, tho i appreciate you dont want to get ripped off by a fruitcake manager. Ahh well Dont forget about Pendulum tho cos they rock soooooo much and would be great.
And Yes i do like Pendulum but not DnB. Most DnB is just "Phat Beats" and boring.
Oh and If you think Pendy Repeat themselves in their tunes you need to realise that is the nature of DnB. Riff1. Repeat (add Reverb), Repeat Riff1, Repeat (add Reverb) etc over and over...
Im not gonna bother gettin into a debate about pendulum,in all fairness if they played id definately come as it shows the ents team are making an effort to improve nights at the union, but as theyve said pendulum would be far too expensive. but yeah scratch perverts would definately go down well. maybe someone like bassline smith would be a good alternative to people who like pendulum, quite similar but far cheaper.
