Problem is thought that there are so many places in Pompey that have alternative nights it poses two questions.
1. If the union were to have a night when would it be (different places have bigger nights during the week - don't think the union could compete with places people already go to reguarly).
2. Could the union draw in enough of a crowd that are just students - nights like chaos at the weekends seem to be bringing in a lot of locals from what my mates said |

They tried putting on a rock/alt night last year didn't they. Bink anyone? Problem was it was on a monday, so in competition woth route. As route already had an established alt night, no one went to Bink. If they did it on a different night, maybe it would work. There's nothing special about thursday nights yet is there? maybe try once a fortnight, see if it picks up... |

It would have to be TRUE Rock/Indie tho, Route says its an Alt night and ends up just playing DnB and alot of rubbishy garage/metal spin offs. Few Classics.
Every time i go to route it just gets worse...
SO i recon the union could do agood job of it as long as its well advertised with strong music and probably some a big name or something to attract attention.
Maybe make it fancy dress. Come as ur face rockstars any one? |

The music they played at bink was quite good compared to route which plays a lot of crap often, they just need to do it on a different nite thats all. |
