Hi!

I'm compiling a report about student opinions of halls, especially James Watson, Trafalgar or Margaret Rule.

If anyone would like a chance to have their voices heard at the highest University levels, then please post you opinions here or email dogsbody42(at)googlemail.com

Comments, good or bad, about all halls are welcome!

thanks!

That would be great if you could? Just some notes about it - high/low points or whatever you wanted to write

send them to dogsbody42{at}googlemail.com

Trafalgar was in my opinion the 'quiet' halls. There were only a couple of mad parties the whole year, and the fire alrams went off about 4 times compared to almost treble in places such as bateson. It was fairly good in terms of being in the centre and the rooms were reasonably sized, but it was fairly boring in all. The cleaners were ridiculous though, scrutinizing every little thing trying to get you fined. I spent most of my time in James Watson and Margret Rule which were reeeeeally social and a lot of fun. Jon the security guard is a legend.

I've lived in James Watson almost a year and I'm afraid I've got more negative stuff to say about it than positive. The cleaners are frustrating to say the least. Very picky about anything, they'll try and charge you for almost anything and will go out of their way to wake you up in the morning with hoovers. They're not really cleaners either, they've never cleaned our kitchen, I think theyre generally employed to moan and hand out fines when it suits them. The halls room are quite good, bigger than most people's and you get a good bunch of parties happening pretty much everyday of the week. John the security guard is amazing, he calls me Sarah when my name is actually Sophie but we do all Love him. If I was going to choose halls again I'd probably choose Rees. Close to the common, more of a community and less hassle from Uni cleaners etc.

There's alot to be said about living in Rees Hall, The Cleaners were LEGENDs cleanign up countless piles of crud all over the place and still smiling nicely. Oh and the Porter staff were amazing, they were allways so helpful. As were the catering staff who obviously enjoy their jobs, which is a refreshing sight these days.

Rees had a load of Corridor parties which were fantastic. Rarely any fire alarms, which is allways good.

Induction week at halls was naff tho, thought they could have put on a few kitchen parties or sumat!??

the only thing i can really complain at is the fact that some people see the need to phone security to get their neighbours who live NEXT DOOR to shut up....

Oh and the vending machines were allways empty which sucks....

Rees Hall is amazing.
