Things are changing here at the Union, we have finally, after months of risk assessments, negotiations and insurance issues, been given the go ahead to have a Foam Party at the Union.
So come the 1st October we will have the first, hopefully of many, Ibiza Foam parties.
There will be lots of Foam, lots of smoke, and a fantastic laser display, we will even have an Ibiza DJ! Be waned that this is the first official freshers night and will be very, very busy. Tickets will be available from reception from the 24th September for £4 or as part of the party pass which is £20
We advise sensible shoes and don’t wear your best clothes as you will get wet!!
As long as nothing goes horribly wrong the next Foam party will be the Halloween Party on the 27th October and the last Saturday of the month from there on!
Time to get messy!!

oh how true!!! myself and my friends wore sandals/flip flops, as clearly the floor would be slippery under a layer of foam and are also not likely to be ruined if tyhey got wet.
However, some poeple clearly thought stilettos were a great choice for a foam party! WRONG!!
The result being, the majority of people wearing sensible foam party shoes getting trodden on by aforementioned stilleto wearers resulting in very bruised feet and crushed toes (which are still painful).
Maybe an idea for the next foam party to ban people wearing rediculous shoes!
Otherwise, a pretty good night. However, could do with having foam cannons on both sides of the stage, as the area covered by the foam was pretty small considering the number of people trying to get 'foamed', resulting in a lot of pushing and shoving (and getting trodden on).
But there is a lot of potential for it being wicked night, and was pretty good for a first attempt!! |

I had a good laugh last night (err, what I remember of it...) and thought it was definitely something that could work if it happened again.
Tom de Vos (in Lux) and Kev Ray (in CO2) both played good dance/house warm up sets too - nice to hear two rooms of house at the Union again!!

Classic Night! Would say yea two foam cannons would have reduced the Crush.
Tho in a way I REALLY liked the moshpit, was like much heaver than alot of nights at even Route 66.
Certainly one of the best nights at the union ever!
Maybe hold a foam party on a different day like Saturday or Wednesday somewhen cos that will probs be a good hit too. I know quite a few peeps hit Liquid over the union cos it was on a monday night but still great show!
Dont expect Union photos to be up for at least 2 -3 weeks. allways takes them blimmin ages for some reason |

We are working on this Luke. As the photographer i do my best to get them to the big bosses for the next day, but for legal reasons - that i am not sure of the in's and out's - the photos have to all be vetted before going live. Totally agree, as we managed to get through the event with no major problems, occasional crushed toes aside, it does open my options to develop the night.
The next party which is on the 27th October we will have double the foam, two canons either side of the stage and increased laser displays with the additional Halloween theme should be a good one!

With regards to photos we did have some issues with the system, and have put a temporary fix in place. It now takes about 24 hrs for them to get up onto the site.
Remember Tom I have the date stamp on the ftp site, lol
Everything upto the end of Friday is there now, Saturdays should go up today.
