Is anyone else having problems accessing the University network, either via Net Drive, Portal, WebCT or Victory?? The Uni network has been down many times over the past week or so.....correct me if I'm wrong, but a lot of people have coursework due in the next few weeks. Can we use an ECF in these circumstances? Knowing my luck, it'll be up and running again a few hours before my deadlines.

Yerp, it went down like a drunken student walking into a door yesterday while they did some "planned maintenance" (apparently all the staff received an e-mail, but I don't remember spotting it). Today's been fine so far, touch wood, but then I haven't been using the WebCT service, and that might be hosted on a different system...
lol, glad they gave students notice about it, would have copied my work across to my pc. coursework due in Wednesday. cheers Portsmouth uni computer tech team!!
In lion gate 0.14 the tech guy shouts abusive language to students trying to plug their USB flash pen drives into the back of the pc's ("what the f*** are you doing to my computer"), he tells them to use the front ports instead (fair enough, but no need to swear).....why can he drink coffee and eat his sandwich in front of his pc and set different standards to us students? Was working on Wednesday at 12:00 and he's shouting to everyone why aren't they supporting their sports teams....maybe because we have work to do...
There always seems to be problems with the Uni network; WebCT and stuff. I particularly like the warning that Windows gives stating that the Student Portal is dodgy or insecure, lol.
Kinda related; does anyone know how to get the code for the University Campus wireless internet connection, if there is one?

I checked my portal before Weds last week (Tues or Weds morning) and I saw a message on there saying it would be down between 1300 - 1700 on Friday.
If the problem wasn't sorted then it would be down for longer. I always recommend saving any work to a USB that you do at home or uni incase things like this happen. Unfortunately, the amount of help/ support you'll get if you do submit an ECF for this sort of reason will be unlikely to help you (by any significant amount anyways)
Its like for example, in Richmond, printing takes upto 15mins. There have been cases where people have missed coursework deadlines because people haven't managed to get it printed in time - no support in these circumstances either!
Given how unreliable the uni network is, I'd advise you to do this all the time!
Anyone else having problems getting on the network (portal, webct, ebrary etc.) today (7th Jan '08) or is it just me? sent an email to the technical people but heard nothing since.
