It's that time of year again - we're planning what's going to be happening at your Grad Ball.

Tell us what artists and bands you like the most, and what kinds of music you'd like to hear at your Graduation Ball. You can suggest anyone you like here, but bear in mind Robbie Williams might not be within our budget... ;o)

Scratch perverts would be pretty cool again. Heard some really good reviews of them at previous balls. Chipshop boys were good, but not as a main act.

Okay - was having a little think about this one whilst walking home from the union this evening... one band that I would LOVE to see play

WEAPONS OF SOUND - you've probably not heard of them - but they are an absolutely amazing live act and would go down fantastically at the ball.

For some other ideas... 2manyDJs, Ocean Colour Scene, or the Cuban Bros would be wicked again!! But if I were able to choose, it would definitely be WOS!!!

And here's a little video - the sound quality just doesn't do them justice though..

But I also love a band called Sweet Black Angels - check them out on MySpace!

The Date is 19th July, right in the middle of all the Graduation ceremonies. Tickets will be available through the Grad Packs sent to your home address over easter.

Sadly the Cuban Brothers are hosting a festival which is on the same weekend so we can't have them.... but there are plenty more great acts out there.

The GO Team are getting many thumbs up from people - and would be absolutely awesome for that feelgood vibe for the last celebration of the year!

or check out this interview and Bestival 2007 clip - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=akGz2cibPAE

may be too expensive though as they are getting quite big now xx

lets not have the scratch perverts again, not that theres anything wrong with them but surely we have a bit more imagination than that to book them 3 years on the trot...........

im glad the cuban brothers are busy cos they were awful last year i thought.

i think a breaks dj would be good, someone like a-skills, dreadzone, freestylers etc.

i think you shouldnt blow big bucks on a big band- its gona sell out anyway so why not use more of the budget on other things like lasers, decor or maybe a few freebies for everyone who attends to remind them of their night

Ooh, yeah, freebies!! and defo on what peachyraver said - it will sell out, even if you had the Chuckle Brothers performing. There's so much unknown talent around, we should be able to find some great, low-cost acts! (plug for Weapons of Sound again! )

A band called Brigade are an up and coming band, www.myspace.com/brigade
Might be able to get a good rate for them too if anyone was interested.

Scouting for Girls would be good as already mentioned, or The Hoosiers.

Some uni's get great acts, ours seemed to a few years back also.

Oxford Brookes have Vernon Kay doing a DJ set, how about Pat Sharp?

I'd say Sia, she appears to be an excellent live performer

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pBo8hZH3HeI

She's best known for Breathe Me, heard in the finale of Six Feet Under, but the above is a cool live video of Buttons :-]

She also sings with/used to sing for Zero 7, see what you think for yourselves though...
