Diving

Portsmouth University Divers is a dive club run by students for students, we offer a wide range of training programs under the world-renowned PADI training scheme. Should you wish to dive with PUD, no membership to any organisation is required; you must merely be a qualified diver from any discipline. These disciplines include PADI, BSAC, SAA and CMAS. If you're already qualified then that's all we need to know. If you're not then what are you waiting for? Let's get you qualified and in the water!

Training courses are conducted on a regular basis throughout the year and as such you can learn to dive over a much shorter time frame than with other organisations. Reduced rates are offered and as there is no requirement to purchase your own kit getting in the water couldn't be cheaper!

We have a regular diving and social programme which we hope you will get involved in. The club also supports a number of conservation organizations and arranges talks and presentations throughout the year.

As an active and aware University society we also do plenty of fund-raising for worthy causes. Last year saw us taking part in a 'divathon' in which a team of PUD divers swam the length of a marathon to raise money for charity.

Your first chance to join up is Freshers Fair. After that, get in contact with any of our committee and we can join you up.

Open water training is mainly at weekends although if needs be midweek open water training takes place.          

P.U.D is able to offer SCUBA diving as a unit for your degree. What a great way to 10 points!  Check with your school office for details. Those of you who are doing Environmental Science related degrees, Engineering or Marine Biology degrees are eligible.  If you are not yet qualified you can do the PADI Open Water course, or for those qualified the Scientific and Technical Diving Techniques course will be for you.  

Members are able to hire equipment anytime they need from our extensive kit store.
