Softball
The university softball team are a fantastic group of male and female students who love playing softball! Capable of offending and being loved by everyone the club compete in the Solent league against a host of other teams of varying ability. We aim to always enjoy ourselves either at training or in a match and welcome anyone who wants to try out a different and exciting sport.
The club also are very active socially and can usually be found in various pubs after training and matches, and also organise fun nights out at the students union and other venues!
Slowpitch
softball is a co-ed American sport with a massive European following. It
consists of 2 teams of 10 (5 guys and 5 girls) and a batting team who aim to
score runs by making their way around the 4 bases. Pitching is underarm from 50
feet away, and this means that the game allows even weaker players to score
decent hits and have more fun! The balls used are larger than baseballs;
however they are just as hard so gloves or mitts are required to catch them.
Slowpitch softball provides a challenging yet fun environment for all players
and is a great sport to be involved in at any level.
Winter training takes place in the Nuffield Sports Centre at 10am on Saturday. Summer training (From 1st April) takes place at Baffins Field on Tangier Road (Times yet to be decided)
We are currently open to sponsorship offers.
