The Media Exec...

  • ... accounts to the Union Council on the activities and development of the Union's media arms, including Pure FM, Pugwash magazine, Pugwash News & Purple Wednesdays newspaper, the News Team, and this website, UPSU.net,
  • ... aims to provide a link between the Media & Publications Officer and the Union's media arms,
  • ... provides a democratic link between the Union's media students and Union Council,
  • ... has six committee positions, five of which are held by students from the relevant student media body, and the sixth by the Media & Publications Officer:
    • Student radio representative (Pure FM)
    • Print media representative (Pugwash magazine)
    • Print media and web representative (Pugwash News & Purple Wednesdays, and UPSU.net)
    • Societies representative (Societies Exec Committee)
    • Clubs representative (Athletic Union Committee)
    • Media & Publications Officer

The Chair

The committee elects a chairperson from the six committee members to represent the committee to Union Council.

A chair must be elected from the committee, and cannot include the Media & Publications Officer. The chair’s role is to set the agenda with the Media officer for each meeting.

Meetings

The Media Exec meets with the Media Officer once every month to report on media activity from the past month and to plan upcoming events.

This means that the Media Exec allows regular communication between the various branches of UPSU Media, one key benefit being that it ensures ease of coordinating media events.

This also ensures each branch of UPSU Media is working efficiently together, rather than in a less effective autonomous way.

Meeting minutes

Reporting

Each committee member is asked to draft a short progress report of their activities before each meeting, and send this to the Media Officer in advance of the Media Exec meetings.
