Meet the Sabbs / Kat King, Student Support
What do you do?
Hey my name's Kat I'm the Student Support Officer, my job includesrunning campaigns, helping to organise R.A.G (Raising and Giving) events, overseeing Union Council and general welfare (so any problems that a student might have).
What part of your job do you enjoy the most?
The part of my job I enjoy most is helping with R.A.G.
What successes have you had?
I hope everything I've done has been successful lol, but picking just one thing... during the first week of all the students being back all the copies of the booklet i wrote for the Use it. Keep it. Love it! campaign went (over 1000!)
How many of your manifesto pledges have you achieved?
In my manifesto I said "I believe I am an approachable, open and honest person and would be a good representative of the student population. I am also dedicated to doing the best job I can for students, by listening and advising the best possible help, no matter what the problem is"... i believe i have helped to increase student/sabbatical relations!
What's the most frustrating part of your position?
The most frustrationg part of my position is when people say to me "what is a sabb"!
Would you recommend the role to other students?
I would definately recommend this role to other students, its been a great year (and ill be really sad to leave!)
What was the hardest part about the 2007 elections for you?
The hardest part of elections was the hours... up and out for 9am till 2am campaigning, it was REALLY fun though so also the best part!
... and the best part?
(see above)
In 2008/2009, what will the Sabb team need to work the hardest on?
The next sabb team will need to work hard on getting more students to know what a sabbatical officer is and what we do, to try and get as many students as possible involved in the UPSU activities (not just drinking lol!)
If you could offer your successor one piece of advice, what would it be?
One piece of advice.... try not to get frustrated, even if just one person knows what you get up to and gets more involved your helping and making a difference :)
What does your successor need more than anything else to be successful?
More than anything else they need to believe in what they're doing, and go for it!!
