About the UPSU AGMs
There are three different decision-making bodies at the Union. The most powerful is the Annual General Meeting (AGM), at which all students are entitled to vote and to submit motions to be debated.
The AGM is held once a year at the Union, and is every student's chance to find out exactly what's happening with their Union, and how it will be run for the next year.
Decisions made at AGM's are final; policies made there cannot be overturned by the Sabbatical Executive Committee or Union Council.
If you want to change something about the Union and enough students turned up (a minimum of 150 are needed to make the AGM "Quorate") and agreed with you, your idea would be implemented (as long as it isn't illegal!).
AGMs are held once a year although any student can call an Emergency General Meeting (EGM) to discuss an important issue, provided they can collect 150 signatures from student members.
AGMs are run to an agenda - published beforehand - and usually last no more than an hour.
Previous AGMs
- 2007: The 2007 UPSU AGM was held on Thursday 10th May. You can read the agenda for the 2007 AGM here.
More information
AGMs receive, consider, and approve or reject reports from the Union Council, Standing Committees, and Sabbatical Officers.
AGMs are also used to publish the audited accounts of the Union for the financial year.
