The conditions of membership are:


"The privileges of all categories of membership of the Union shall be subject always to the requirement that in exercising those privileges members do so in a manner which is: consistent with the requirements of the Memorandum & Articles of Association and the policies of the Union; in compliance with the laws of England; in compliance with such conditions which may be approved by the Trustees.

The Trustees shall have the power to suspend or withdraw a privilege or the privileges of membership in the event of a member failing to comply with the requirements and conditions of membership."


Who is a member?


There are five different types of membership to the Union:

A full member Is a person who has registered or enrolled as a student at the University of Portsmouth (not necessarily based in Portsmouth).

An associate member is any person who holds a contract of employment with the Union or is a former student of the University.

A life member is a former student of the University who has applied for life membership of the Union.

Temporary members are broken down into four categories:
  1. Members of other affiliated NUS students' unions.
  2. Members of other students' unions that the Union has current reciprocal membership agreements with.
  3. Persons attending a function or event on Union premises.
  4. Persons who the SASO has approved as a guest of a club or society.
