Out of the woods?

So, Freshers Fortnight is over. Once again we have come through the start of another academic year. So what's different this year?
Well, UPSU is certainly on the democratic trail. Every Committe and Exec have had more candidates stand for election this year and and last year was our best year to date so it looks like the trend has been set. Societies Exec, Sports, VIP, Pugwash and Union Council all with more interest. We looking to continue this development - get involved you might like it. Clubs and Societies are squeezing themselves into the Student Centre - another great sign with regaurd to student involvment. Pure have their new station- making them quite happy although reduced opening hours are putting a damper on their spirits at the moment - this situation will be resolved soon giving much better access. We are now looking forward to a very busy first term with plenty more democratic events. Next up will be Societies Council and Sports Council leading into the next Union Council and the AGM before Christmas. During this same period we also have the NUS conference elections to run. Great fun all round and it looks like reduced opening hours are starting to cause a bit of a commotion. Hey ho.
