After waiting two hours for our coach (thanks again Wayne!), us five netball girls made our way to Surrey
We arrived at Surrey and made our way onto the courts, through the mud and started our warm up. Gill wasn’t pleased to see the opposition GD was an imposing girl with shaved red hair, tattoos and piercings in both cheeks! Having played Surrey Seconds, losing three times over past years, the team was prepared for a tough game.
Their defence was tough but passes were going well into the circle and with some high quality shooting from Georgia and Gill, the first quarter ended, Portsmouth leading 8 - 7. Knowing we had to step up our game, the team talk encouraged the girls to 14 - 9 at half time.
Our fitness left Surrey in the dark, Carina and Lianne working well together in the centre to increase the lead to 21 - 13. Going into the final quarter, Surrey finally stepped up their game. But all our girls worked hard for every interception and every pass , making the final score 29 - 17 to us.
