What's a podcast?

A podcast is just an audio file - like a music file - which you can either download and listen to like any other audio file, or you can use a music program which supports podcasts - for example iTunes, which is free - to have them automagically delivered to your computer each day.

How to listen and subscribe

  • Listen in your browser:
(requires Flash player - download below)
    • Simply click the "Play" button on the left of the player bar, listed below each podcast entry, above.
  • How to download to your computer:
    • Right-click on the title of the podcast you want to download
    • Select "Save target as" or "Save link as"
    • Select a folder to download the file to, for example your "My music" folder or desktop
    • Each download may take some time as each podcast will be quite large; on a fast broadband connection, the download should take around 10 minutes.
    • Once your file has downloaded, locate it using your file browser, e.g. Explorer (PC) or Finder (Mac) and double-click it to open it in your preferred music player.
  • Subscribe to the podcast in iTunes:
    • Copy this Podcast link: http://podcasts.purefm.com/feed.xml
(Right-click and select "copy link location" or "copy shortcut location")
    • Open iTunes (you can download iTunes below)
    • Click the "Advanced" menu
    • Click "Subscribe to podcast"
    • Paste the podcast URL by pressing CTRL+V (PC) or Command+V (Mac), or by right-clicking in the text box and selecting "Paste"
    • Click "Ok"
    • iTunes should list the Pure:FM podcast feed under a "Podcasts" menu entry near the top of your library list in the left part of the iTunes window, and should automatically begin downloading the latest podcasts to your computer if you have a working internet connection.
