Once a year all of the Union's societies takeover Ravelin Park and host an afternoon carnival event. There are marquees filled with stalls, activities, sometimes food too, plus a stage where societies can showcase their talents. The event goes on into the evening and although there is no procession (like many people associate with the word "carnival"), the atmosphere is one that is truly unforgettable!!!

But, what I have failed to mention is that the event is whatever you want it to be! It's not run by any big-bods - it's run by the students, for the students (and as cliche as that may sound, it's true!)

This year will be the 3rd year the carnival has run and it's set to be the biggest and best yet! I see you're a member of UPGS - I urge you to come to the next Societies Council meeting (email Ben.Norman@port.ac.uk our SADO for more info, dates etc) where the societies will discuss what they want to do at the event. But until then feel free to pop down any ideas in this thread :)
