University of Portsmouth students and representatives from the Students' Union are descending on Westminster to join students from across the country in asking MPs to come clean on fees.

The announcement that a review of University funding is imminent has inflamed a debate that nearly brought down Tony Blair’s Government.  Students are reminding MPs that their voice matters and that the current system does not work.

The current funding system saddles students with a huge amount of debt with no guarantee that they will ever recoup their financial gamble.

Portsmouth MP Mike Hancock has already declared that he would “like to see tuition fees scrapped” and that “students now suffer from having a great burden of debt by the time they graduate and that is completely unacceptable”. Hancock is due to meet with a group of students to discuss the issue of student funding.

Portsmouth students, University of Portsmouth Students Union and the NUS have vowed to fight for an alternative that works for universities, society but most importantly  for students and potential students.
