Ski & snowboard club

This year the Ski and Snowboard club attended fresher’s fayre, this was a chance for our club to show the university and the students what this year’s committee is all about.

The main aim of the fresher’s fair was to sign up as many people as possible to help with the running and to ensure that the club is the biggest and best club ever to represent Portsmouth University.

As a part of the athletics union there were potentially 5000 target members and at the end of the first day the club had signed up one hundred and fifty eight members. As we approached the end of the second day at four o’clock we had a huge amount of members but the club did not finish the sign ups there oooooo no! We had one hour to go until we had to leave the fayre but by this time all the other clubs had left leaving only the Ski and Snowboard club still partying away.

As the packing up was commencing a final surge of bidding punters ran up to the stall “can we sign” they shouted and we replied of “course you can” so by the end of the fayre we had three hundred and fifteen members!

Of course as you have gathered by now this was not the end of the sign ups as over the weekend all of the committee member’s phones had been ringing none stop.

So instead of singing up people at our houses we asked people to come to our first pub crawl. With over three hundred people this was amazing, meeting up at six thirty in the registry pub,  we then commenced the crawl towards the Fleet and firkin Through out the evening drink tally charts had to be worn by every member of the club to see how much these new recruits could put away! The next port of call was the Walkabout then over to Yates finally pushing the club in the direction of the union where the committee could relax and have a drink themselves after looking after the massive multi member pub crawl!

Many thanks to all the people who helped this year at fresher’s fayre.

Special thanks to the AU staff, all new and current members of the club!
