The Malibu Soundclash experience came to Portsmouth on Wednesday 15th November! Yep, that’s right, the Wednesday night we’re all used to was high jacked by the lovely Malibu gang. I hear you asking yourself ‘whatwas all the fuss about?’ Well my fellow stoodents, I can tell you a little story about my 24 hour adventure in Ibiza courtesy of Malibu. The aim of this trip was to show us a little glimpse of what is going to happen at our very own Union, and all I’m saying is ‘It’s gangsta bruv!’ We set off at stupid o’clock in the morning and by 10am we were at a truly Malibu pimped up villa in the middle of the Ibizan mountains. The pool was screaming my name and I couldn’t resist the temptation and within 5 minutes of being there I showed off my Olympic winning dives, or in other words ‘the belly flop’ as we’re all used to. After a quick shower and change of clothes we were blessed with the presence of a few of the Pernod Ricard guys. The reason for them coming along was to give us a background about Malibu and how the Malibu brand had been purchased by them. So remember when we had the Malibu Shaggy night? That wasn’t them, so the whole cheesy factor has gone, rejoice! Shortly after this introduction to the company we were told about the new Malibu Soundclash night that was going to happen at our Unions. In a nut shell, what the Malibu Soundclash experience brought us was good music, good cocktails, and I mean good cocktails and overall a wicked night out. In the evening we were treated to a barbeque and cocktails and then a taster of what the DJs will be doing on the night. They had two DJs with a set of decks each and they were playing tunes back to back and battling against each other to keep the crowd entertained. They also let us have a go at DJing ourselves, and trust me; DJ Fraggy was dropping them like it’s hot! To end the night we went into town and got on the good old Spanish cerveza and before we knew it, we had to be back on the plane to the sunny old British Isles. So, how was it?

Lux was then be opened up for the real Malibu experience. The club was transformed with Malibu’s own twist and cocktails were being served up left, right and centre. The battle between two DJs was awesome with them playing some banging tunes. The main attraction was the time elapsed sunset that was projected on the big screen and by the end of the night the sun had set and the time for us to go home came!So a massive salute goes to the Malibu Soundclash massive for putting on a wicked night for the masses!
