Lux is being repainted! See the photos here

Last updated: Sun 16th Sep 2007 at 10:44

To tackle Lux's "white box" atmosphere, the Union are re-painting its largest venue in a deep purple. See the photos and add your comments here.

The re-paint comes in response to feedback from students and staff, and a lengthy consultation process with the Union's Sabbatical Officers and University Directorate.

The lower half of Lux is being painted in shades of purple, keeping the atrium (roof) space white to maximise the visual impact from the venue's lighting rig.

I understand it'll be in the same place as before, i.e. down the darker end of the room, with some space in the lighter end for some seating?

When you say the "darker" end of the room, are you talking about the end where it was last time, or the time where it was the year before - under the main text screen by the doors to CO2?

Sorry Skribla, I meant that the DJ booth will remain in the position it was in in 2006-2007 at the end of Lux closest to the bridge.

Think it's good the Union are doing something to improve the atmosphere, but still think it needs to be painted darker down the shooters bar end. The back bar is much better having the spot lights completely off and using the fridge and salitos lights only!
