Union refurbished in time for Freshers'!

Last updated: Sun 9th Oct 2005 at 04:37
Hoorah! The extensive refurbishment of Club Lux and Bar CO2 has been completed with just hours to spare before we open for the start of the new year. Well, we could hardly let you turn up without having the best student venue in the country to come and play in, could we?!

Lux

Club Lux has had an extensive make-over, with the loss of the stage, raised areas, old bars and DJ booth, and the fitting of a seriously long bar along the back wall. The new bar will be a major improvement on last year's drink service, with new high-pressure beer lines to prevent the problems which beset the bars during busy periods.

The whole venue has received new lighting and sound equipment to compliment the existing top-end kit, and is also able to be used as a conference hall or even a lecture theatre. The room has been designed to stay clean and smelling fresh, with improvements to the air conditioning systems and new easily-cleaned surfaces - no-one wants to have lectures in a room that smells of beer and stale smoke!

CO2

Over in CO2, the changes are more subtle, but they're still good ones; we've installed a semi-permanent lighting rig to combat the room's inherent dark atmosphere, repainted it a rather nice colour, and lost that "feature" in the middle of the room which we think was only installed to trip people up when they weren't looking...!

We hope you'll be happy to hear that we've still got an awesome line-up of events and resident nights for you this year. For more information, please visit the social life pages and check out what's on!
