A record start to the term
Students break new records in their first two weeks at the Union
Freshers fortnight saw a large number of you coming to the Union in record numbers.
Purple Wednesday on 1st October saw the highest number of people ever to pass through the Union's front door in one night with 2995 people visiting the Union. This beating the record set on Saturday 30th September 2006 when 2873 visited the Union in one night.
Thinking that the record had been set at an all new high, it was even more of a shock when the following Wednesday the record was smashed again, this time 3067 of you decided to visit us in one night. Could it be beaten again this week? Time willl tell.
Smurfs take over portsmouth. 1069 of you decided to visit us for the Smurf world record attempt. There has never been a more comical sight than the University's intersite bus pulling up to Cambridge rd with only Blue Smurfs on board.
The record was smashed with Portsmouth now holding the un-official record for the most people taking part in a smurf world record attempt.
What next? Oompa lumpas? Mr Men? Willy Wonka characters? Watch this space.
