Portsmouth University Radio Experience (PURE) was started by a small, dedicated band of students in 1994. Pure FM has since successfully broadcast on a short-term FM license, the latest being in March 2003.

Today Pure FM broadcasts over the Internet, with many students working on all aspects of running a radio station, including putting out shows, reviewing music, maintaining the website and organising nights out.

Daytime music is a unique blend of local talent, new music, and timeless classics, leaving the evening shows free to give listeners a taste of something a little bit different. Pure FM is now looking to be played more throughout the University campus, making it easier for students to gain access to the vast student experience, including information about forthcoming events, including live music.

Pure FM is run entirely by students with a very dedicated management committee, and provides the ideal experience for anyone wanting to move into the media industry. Supported by the Union, Pure FM strives to provide the ultimate soundtrack to student life.
