Halls Representatives
Halls Council is established to give students a voice about how things work in their halls. The Council is completely run by students – there is support from the Hall Manager and the Students’ Union but the Council is there for you to have some control over what happens in your hall.Being a member of the Hall Council is a chance to make a difference and become more involved in your hall and university life. It is an exciting and at times demanding commitment to make but is well worth the time and effort put in.
Hall Council activities include organising social events, purchasing items for your halls with the view of improving facilities and adapting or making changes to the rules and regulations within reason.
What will I get out of it?
- It's a great and quick way of making new friends!
- You will gain improved communication and presentation skills on how to run a committee as well as valuable experience in the organisation, management and the promotion of various social events and inter-mural sports activities, which will look super on your CV!
- A sense of fulfilment that you have helped your fellow Freshers' make a great start to university life!
How do I get involved?
You have to run in the simple but fun elections, which take part in the week after Freshers' Fortnight. Halls election and nomination packs will be available in the reception of all the Halls of residents or at the Union stand during Freshers' Fayre. Students’ Union officers and residents assistants will be available to offer you assistance on how to run for election!
Come on, get involved!
