How to plan the perfect Christmas meal for your group

It's about time to start thinking about planning your Christmas meal for your club or society. Our VP Sports, Charlotte Beaney, has given us her top tips...

There can be a lot that goes into organising a Christmas meal for your club or society and it's an important thing to get right, after all it is the last time you'll see your uni mates for a month!

1. Find a venue

Speak to other groups and find out where they might be planning to have their Christmas meal. Then call around to local venues and choose the best place for your group!

2. Arrange a viewing

Arrange a visit to the venue to see:

1. How it would be set up.

2. How many people you are allowed.

3. To preview the menu.

3. Let people know

Let your club or society to know about the event in a way that suits you. Creating a Facebook event can be an easy way but try to consider that some members of your group may not use the platform.

4. Make a note

Note down the names of the students attending and their meal orders, then send it off to the venue.

5. Create a seating plan

Work out where to seat people. It's often a good idea to mix teams up so that everyone can socialise together.

6. Plan awards and get people to vote

Plan the awards you want to give out, for example: best team player or most improved. Then organise for people to vote in their teams for who they think should win!

7. Tell people the final details

Let people know the final seating plan and nominee's just before the event, it's also a good way to ensure everyone still turns up!

8. Turn up and have fun!
