Five unique taster sessions to try this week

We have teamed up with the University of Portsmouth's Sport and Recreation department to offer a range of free taster sessions from the 20th-27th of November. Here's a few of the different sessions that students can get involved with this week...

1. Quidditch

Free session at Milton Park on Wednesday the 22nd November at 2pm.

Quidditch is a new, full contact sport with elements of rugby, dodgeball and handball. The sport has a wide variety of members with different fitness levels. Sessions are run with fun games and competitive play. Quidditch is a mixed gender sport, with a "Gender Rule" of no more than 4 people who identify as the same gender on pitch at once. 

2. Capoeira

Free session at the University of Portsmouth Students' Union Activities Room on Monday 20th November from 7:30pm.

Capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian martial art which combines strength, flexibility, aerobic fitness and power. No pre-training is needed as the classes are designed to get your fitness levels up. Capoeira is ritualistic, having the elements of dance, fight and music combined in one martial art that paints history while forming a community.

3. Dodgeball

At the Charter School Sports Centre on Tuesday 21st November from 8:00pm (£5.00).

Dodgeball are offering a women-only dodgeball tournament, running across two sessions. It is a friendly tournament with the aim of giving girls the opportunity to improve or discover their dodgeball skills. 

4. Paintball

Full-day event on Saturday 25th November 2017 from 12:00pm (£20.00).

The Paintball Team offers fun, competitive, and intense paintball experiences. The team cater to all levels of abilities and offer regular weekend sessions with full coaching.

5. Yoga

Free session in the University of Portsmouth Students' Union Activity Room on Friday 24th November at 3:00pm.

Try taking part in yoga for a chance to relax, focus on yourself and forget about the issues of everyday life. Classes are suitable for everyone - from complete beginners to those who want to develop their practice. Students are advised to wear comfortable clothing and contact the committee if they have any questions.
