Results of the Elections announced

Find out the results of the Student Elections 2018 in full and meet the candidates who were successfully elected!

Students have been voting throughout the week to elect five new Sabbatical Officers to lead the Union and work on behalf of students in 2018/19.

Over the week 4,552 students voted and cast 54,537 votes for the candidates they thought would make the best changes to student life at Portsmouth.

The Union's new Sabbatical Officer team will take office from 1st July 2018 and work to represent all students and make a positive impact on the student experience.

The successfully elected candidates are as follows:

President

Your new President is Violet Karapaseva who won by 2154 votes.

In this election there were 4066 valid votes cast. This election went to 8 rounds.

In the first round – No Suitable Candidate was eliminated with 153 votes

In the second round – Farhan Mir was eliminated with 246 votes

In the third round – Reuben Lea-Carnell was eliminated with 314 votes

In the fourth round – Chris Ball was eliminated with 467 votes

In the fifth round – Immanuel Busam-Adah was eliminated with 562 votes

In the sixth round – Ed Joseph was eliminated with 816 votes

In the seventh round – Rochelle Coghiel was eliminated with 1178 votes

In the eighth round – Anita Butler was runner-up and carried 1913 votes


VP Education and Democracy

Your new VP Education & Democracy is George Pykov who won with 1691 votes.

In this election there were 3181 valid votes cast. This election went to 5 rounds.

In the first round – Tichaona Farirayi was eliminated with 257 votes

In the second round – No Suitable Candidate was eliminated with 292 votes

In the third round – John Anderson was eliminated with 664 votes

In the fourth round – Louie Pattenden was eliminated with 943 votes

In the fifth round – Omar Mahmood Lagares was runner-up and carried 1490 votes


VP Sports

Your new VP Sports is Charlotte “Bean” Beaney who won with 2027 votes

In this election there were 3669 valid votes cast. This election went to 6 rounds.

In the first round – Helder Araujo was eliminated with 233 votes

In the second round – No Suitable Candidate was eliminated with 313 votes

In the third round – Stevie-Marie Jones was eliminated with 485 votes

In the fourth round – Mychaell Da Silva was eliminated with 716 votes

In the fifth round – Steph Barker was eliminated with 1020 votes

In the sixth round – George Hibberd was runner-up and carried 1642 votes


VP Welfare and Community

Your new VP Welfare & Community is Sophie Butler who won with 1702 votes.

In this election there were 3220 valid votes cast. This election went to 5 rounds.

In the first round – No Suitable Candidate was eliminated with 343 votes

In the second round – Sophie Kecsmar was eliminated with 510 votes

In the third round – Anca Dunavete was eliminated with 746 votes

In the fourth round – Amy Bowles was eliminated with 967 votes

In the fifth round – Rebecca Jarrett was runner-up and carried 1518



VP Activities

Your new VP Activities is Moises Frias who won by 2497 votes.

In this election there were 3103 valid votes cast. This election went to 1 round.

In the first round – No Suitable Candidate carried 606 votes and the winner carried 2497 votes
