Find out the results of the Student Elections 2019 in full and meet the candidates who were successfully elected!

Students have been voting throughout the week to elect five new Sabbatical Officers to lead the Union and work on behalf of students in 2019/20. 

Over the week 4114 students voted and cast 63,163 votes for the candidates they thought would make the best changes to student life at Portsmouth. 

The Union's new Sabbatical Officer team will take office from 1st July 2019 and work to represent all students and make a positive impact on the student experience. 

The successfully elected candidates are as follows:

President

Your new President is Helena Schofield who won with 2,055 votes.

In this election there were 3,431 valid votes cast. This election went to 6 rounds.

In the first round – Andrew Ogaga Apoiy was eliminated with 152 votes

In the second round – No Suitable Candidate was eliminated with 205 votes

In the third round – Marley Eleven Bury was eliminated with 305 votes

In the fourth round – Mariam Daniel was eliminated with 587 votes

In the fifth round – Chuk Onwuemezi was eliminated with 823 votes

In the sixth round – Omar Mahmood Lagares was eliminated with 1,376 votes

VP Education and Democracy

Your new VP Education & Democracy is Rama Hilouneh who won with 1,343 votes.

In this election there were 2,674  valid votes cast. This election went to 4 rounds.

In the first round – No Suitable Candidate was eliminated with 277 votes

In the second round – George Whelton was eliminated with 460 votes

In the third round – Izzette Encarnacion was eliminated with 655 votes

In the fourth round – David the Gentle Giant was eliminated with 1,331 votes

VP Sports

Your new VP Sports is Phil Samuel who won with 1,887 votes.

In this election there were 3,255 valid votes cast. This election went to 4 rounds.

In the first round – No Suitable Candidate was eliminated with 258 votes

In the second round – Craig Mbanefo was eliminated with 428 votes

In the third round – Digby Hayden was eliminated with 827 votes

In the fourth round – Gez Matthews was eliminated with 1,369 votes

VP Welfare and Community

Your new VP Welfare & Community is Hayley Turner-McIntyre who won with 1,639 votes.

In this election there were 2,938 valid votes cast. This election went to 8 rounds.

In the first round – Carol Gouveia was eliminated with 142 votes

In the second round – Rafiq Arthur-Quarm was eliminated with 172 votes

In the third round – No Suitable Candidate was eliminated with 214 votes

In the fourth round – One@Wan was eliminated with 259 votes

In the fifth round – Farai Shoko was eliminated with 462 votes

In the sixth round – Jack Dranfield  was eliminated with 650 votes

In the seventh round – Dione Vengai was eliminated with 838 votes

In the eighth round - Amber Grout was eliminated with 1,299 votes

VP Activities

Your new VP Activities is Tom Plant who won with 1,707 votes.

In this election there were 3,080 valid votes cast. This election went to 4 rounds.

In the first round – No Suitable Candidate was eliminated with 310 votes

In the second round – Roy Senkali was eliminated with 429 votes

In the third round – Chris Bainbridge was eliminated with 969 votes

In the fourth round – Mufaro Muffin Olisi was eliminated with 1,373 votes
