NUS Referendum Result
Find out the results of the National Union Students (NUS) referendum.
There were 1439 number of votes within this referendum. 615 number of students voted for the University of Portsmouth Students’ Union (UPSU) to remain affiliated with the National Union of Students (NUS). 669 number of students voted to leave the NUS and 155 number of students voted “don’t know”.
Therefore the result of this referendum is that The University of Portsmouth Students’ Union will disaffiliate from the NUS.
This means that when the affiliation fee is due in July 2019, UPSU will lose benefits from that date and no longer be able to supply NUS cards (Totum). UPSU will officially leave the NUS in December 2019 after UPSU are ratified by the NUS as no longer being a member. Please note if you have an NUS card (Totum) you will be able to use this until the expiry date printed on your card.
